It happens all the time, in so many ways... we destroy the things we love by trying to tweak them, to change them, to "better" them, but instead we just hone and squeeze the life out of them until there is nothing left to save. This song meant different things to me at different times as I wrote it, and it still does. It can be about a love gone bad, the assault on our planet, the degradation of society, corrupted politics... but the question is still unanswered: why DO we take from a good thing until we utterly break it down?
