This piece is a standard originally written in French (by Charles Trenet), with english lyrics penned a decade later. Halie first fell in love with the French lyrics, which are full of beautifully-rendered poetic nostalgia. She thus decided to pay homage to the French version's opening verse lyric by introducing the song with her own (quite liberal) original interpretation of the story in english. A story of regret, remembered beauty, lost love, and coming to terms with the past.
