YELLOW BIRD
Written by: Halie Loren
(c) 2014 Jammin' Salmon Music
A yellow bird, she sings
and dreams of things she's never seen.
And the yellow bird, her wings
have never touched the spring rain.
Where does such a breezy melody
come from if she's never seen the sky?
She says she was born with the seed of joy
and it blossoms from the inside
In this seed I find all I need
To write the music of my life
My feathered friend, your cage
must drive you to rage sometimes…
To think that you have aged
staring at nothing but beige walls
She says "you know, our lives
aren't so different as you would believe.
All are in prisons of some kind,
tethered by the stories that we weave."
I hear her song rising sweet and strong
and I'm lifted by the sound…
Living proof of a simple truth:
it's in the mind where freedom's found.
All we are is made of stardust and sky
We hold the whole world - The whole world inside.
A yellow bird, she sings
and dreams of things I've never seen.
And the yellow bird, her wings
have touched everything.

Tonight, the wind raps on my windowpane
reminding me of you again
as I watch the dying flames...
Tonight, an autumn song in shades of blue
resonates with sounds of you
and bygone days when love was new....
Que reste-t-il de nos amours
Que reste-t-il de ces beaux jours
Une photo, vieille photo
De ma jeunesse
Que reste-t-il des billets doux
Des mois d' avril, des rendez-vous
Un souvenir qui me poursuit
Sans cesse
Bonheur fané, cheveux au vent
Baisers volés, rêves mouvants
Que reste-t-il de tout cela
Dites-le-moi
Un petit village, un vieux clocher
Un paysage si bien caché
Et dans un nuage le cher visage
De mon passé
My breaking heart and I agree
That you and I could never be
So with my best, my very best,
I'll set you free.
I wish you shelter from the storms,
a cozy fire to keep you warm,
but most of all - when snowflakes fall -
I wish you love.

BLUE
Written by Daniel Gallo
****
The carnival left town,
The tents all came down yesterday.
Though the clowns had their way,
It’s only clouds in your eyes I can see.
Though I can’t stop the rain
Nor the sweet and aching pain in your heart,
There ain’t no sugar sweet as you
When you soul is painted blue, baby -
falling apart -
You’re reaching for something to save you
Feeling…
Blue like the deep sea
Colors your country
When we’re driving home
Blue like a moonbeam
Drowning you baby
When you feel alone
So, I can’t stop the rain
Nor the sweet and aching pain in your heart
It’s just the way that we fall
When we’re standing one and all in the dark
And in the pieces we fall
I see the people one and all
Reach for the sky
And there’s something there to remind us
But nobody knows why
Blue like the deep sea
Colors your country
When we’re driving home
Blue like a moonbeam
Drowning you baby
When you feel alone
These are the things that you see
When you’re looking back at me through the pain
But we don’t have to fall
If we stand together tall in the rain
And in this world painted blue
I can only promise you
Holding your heart
Singing these songs
About a new start
When I’ll bathe you in sunbeams,
Tattoo your daydreams
Across our sky.
I’ll love you like Sunday,
No clouds on the highway
When we’re driving home.
Blue like the deep sea
Colors your country
When we’re driving home
Blue like a moonbeam
Drowning you baby
When you feel alone
Blue, blue
Blue, blue
Blue like the deep sea
Colors you baby
Blue like a moonbeam
Drowning you baby

BUTTERFLY
written by Halie Loren
(c) 2014, Jammin' Salmon Music (ASCAP)
Never felt so old,
so ready to fold it all down
so at home on the cold, hard ground.
I'm not chasing sun no more
How I love that light,
but it don't help when the nights get long.
I'm too tired to right all the wrongs
I must have done to end up so far gone...
But my sweet friend, the angel,
you float in on the wind
tell me this is not the end...
And you say, you say, you say,
that I just got to play this game and I'll leave it alive.
And someday, someday, someday,
I'll look back and see all the pain and fear was a lie.
You gotta die awhile to come back a Butterfly.
When it comes to change,
all I know is to rage against
It don't matter the cage I'm in
Still feels like a home to me
But then the rain comes down
and I'm afraid that I'll drown in here.
I cover my head, but it's loud and clear:
There's only one way out.
Oh, Cruel World, you break me
out of all my shells
I guess you know me well.
And you say, you say, you say,
that I just got to play this game and I'll leave it alive.
And someday, someday, someday,
I'll look back and see all the pain and fear was a lie.
You gotta die awhile to come back a Butterfly.
Oh, My Soul, I feel you
reaching for the wind,
longing to begin again...

After the Fall

AFTER THE FALL
Written by Daniel Gallo
****
Lullabies float like birds through the land
And pennies in the stream
From dreaming little dreams with him
And the records spin on through the night
And the darkness it sighs
When Billie sings: “take my arms, I’ll never use them”
After the fall you’re still singing these songs
'Cause the light in the sound
Warms your heart in the winter, baby
And after the fall you’ll reach back to a time
Of melodies soft and clear
To cradle your heart
A man says it’s only a paper moon
And he travels in time
Weaving sounds in your room
And these foolish things still remind you of him
How he took all of you
Like you wanted him to
In those days of sweet surrender
And after the fall you’re still singing these songs
'Cause the light in the sound
Warms your heart in the winter, baby
And after the fall you’ll reach back to a time
Of melodies soft and clear
To cradle your heart
And it’s sweeter than sugar and wine
And it’s softer than summertime
Funny like a valentine
When your heart is aglow
Now you know
That you can’t
Live in a song that never ends
What a wonderful world
It would be if you could
And in your solitude, that mood indigo
Is what's left of the night
When the record ends
In the silence of cold December...
And after the fall you’re still singing these songs
'Cause the light in the sound
Warms your heart in the winter, baby
And after the fall you’ll reach back to a time
Of melodies soft and clear
To cradle your heart
And after the fall you’re still singing these songs
'Cause the light in the sound
Warms your heart
In the winter.

OUR LOVE IS HERE TO STAY
Written by George and Ira Gershwin
****
It’s very clear
Our love is here to stay
Not for a year
But ever and a day
The radio and the telephone
And the movies that we know
May just be passing fancies,
And in time may go
But, oh my dear,
Our love is here to stay
Together we’re
Going a long, long way
In time the Rockies may crumble,
Gibralter may tumble,
They’re only made of clay,
But our love is here to stay.

I'VE GOT YOU UNDER MY SKIN
(written by Cole Porter)
I've got you under my skin
I've got you deep in the heart of me
So deep in my heart that you're really a part of me
I've got you under my skin
I tried so not to give in
I said to myself, "this affair never will go so well"
So why do I try to resist when, baby, I know so well
That I've got you under my skin?
I'd sacrifice anything come what might
For the sake of having you near
In spite of a warning voice that comes in the night
And repeats, repeats in my ear:
"Don't you know, little fool, you never can win?
Use your mentality, wake up to reality"
But each time I do just the thought of you makes me stop
Before I begin
'Cause I've got you
I've got you
I've got you under my skin.

Danger in Loving You

DANGER IN LOVING YOU
Written by Halie Loren & Larry Wayne Clark
****
Mine was a blue world until you came along
Thought I was through singing that melancholy song
Now the tune is the same, and every word's coming true
Guess that's the danger in loving you
Just like a silly moth that can't seem to learn
I keep running back, although I know It's gonna burn
Sometimes I hate myself, but what can I do
I'm drawn to the danger in loving you
I can't fight your devil charms
When you take me in your arms
And you lead me into harm's way
I'm a captive in the game you play
Just like a gambler in this round of roulette
Except it's my heart that I've got riding on a bet
How long will it take before you break it in two
It's all in the danger in loving you
It's all in the danger in loving you

BOULEVARD OF BROKEN DREAMS
written by Harry Warren & Al Dubin
****
I walk along the street of sorrow,
The boulevard of broken dreams.
Where gigolo and gigolette
Can take a kiss without regret
So they forget their broken dreams.
You laugh tonight and cry tomorrow,
When you behold your shattered dreams.
And gigolo and gigolette
Awake to find their eyes are wet
With tears that tell of broken dreams.
Here is where you`ll always find me,
Always walking up and down.
But I left my soul behind me
In an old cathedral town.
The joy that you find here, you borrow...
You cannot keep it long, it seems.
And gigolo and gigolette
Can sing a song and dance along
The boulevard of broken dreams.
Here is where you`ll always find me,
Always walking up and down.
But I left my soul behind me
In an old cathedral town.
The joy that you find here, you borrow...
You cannot keep it long, it seems.
And gigolo and gigolette
Can sing a song and dance along
The boulevard of broken dreams.

CARRY US THROUGH
written by Sarah Masen
***
I took a train
headed home
where the colors stream
and my thoughts they go...
I was looking up for the wind to blow,
to come carry us through
Well, sometimes there's doubts,
and the dogs, they bark
and you're just not sure
what is in the dark.
I start to cry
oh, but then the wind goes by,
to come carry us through
Carry us through
carry us through
I was looking up
for the Wind to blow,
to come carry us through.
When we think that it's over,
Baby we find new things to be afraid of.
If we pray till we're older,
and believe that there is hope -
even in the night,
there is hope.
We grab existence
by our defeats
and somehow laugh
when we are weak .
We're being made strong
from underneath,
to come carry us through
So take off of your shoulders
the burdens that you carry of your own regret ...
because someone else needs holding,
and it's very hard to smile when you are all stuck inside yourself
So we close our eyes
and we see the Light
There are so many
Oh, to hold on tight
Don't be afraid
to pray just like a child:
Carry us through
Carry us through
carry us through
I been looking up
for the Wind to blow,
To come carry us through
Carry us through
carry us through,
Carry us through
I been praying, oh, I'm so overdue
Come carry us through
I been looking up
Where are You?
To come carry us....
Carry us through.

PEACE
written by Horace Silver
****
There's a place that I know where the sycamores grow and daffodils have their fun
Where the cares of the day seem to slowly fade away in the glow of the evening sun
Peace when the day is done.
If I go there real late, let my mind meditate on everything to be done
If I search deep inside, let my conscience be my guide, then the answers are sure to come
Don't have to worry none.
When you find peace of mind, leave your worries behind, don't say that it can't be done
With a new point of view life's true meaning comes to you and the freedom you seek is won
Peace is for everyone/
